What I learned from my DI cassette problem...

First, the price varies widely depending on the vendor. Online vendor A wanted $340 with shipping. There was also a core charge of $250 that was refundable when my old unit was returned to Saab. My local dealer wanted $433 plus 7.5% sales tax, so we were at $463 or so. There was also a $250 core charge. Finally, Eeuroparts wanted $299 with shipping included (ground shipping to me was two days-why pay more for two day service?)AND THERE WAS NO CORE CHARGE.
Second, there is a red latch that has to be pulled back about a half inch or so to the right to release the wiring harness (Thanks Dean!) This is very cleverly disguised so that a neophyte might just give it a pull thinking that there is no mechanism holding it in place.
Finally, I learned that you folks are the best. Many thanks for helping me in my hour of need.
P.S. Eeuroparts does not want the core back. Does Saab pay you for these things, or, should I just toss it in the trash?
