It still comes down to that the tech/shop is honest. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: No kidding..., bRAD, Tue, 25 Feb 2003 11:29:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Even if I would to charge an hour by hour rate on fault tracing, the poor customers that get stuck with a really tricky problem would have to pay an ridiculous price for us to find it.
It's more and more cars that leaves me stranded for hours before I find the problem even though I have the latest equipment to search with. Mostly because of the OBD2 system and it's sensitive computers.
The good and easy jobs have to a certain extend, pay for the problem cars. That's where the honesty comes in.
And I do see more and more cars where the problem isn't there when the car is in the shop (try to find something wrong on a perfectly running car).
Also, lets say that the shop have no clue what their doing and not the right equipment, and charge an hourly rate. That customer is gonna pay a lot more with them tinkering around than if he went to a super efficiant
Saab specialist that charge a flat rate.
It's no good answers, but honesty.
