Above the radio is the SID (info. display), make sure all the pixels light up. Do this by using the (+) & (-) buttons to scroll through the options.

Get the VIN and call a local SAAB dealer (or one with an 800#) and explain that you are considering a purchase. Ask for a vehicle history. Maybe they will even fax one to you. Look (ask) if dealer serviced (particularly at 30Kmi) and if all recalls/campaigns have been implemented on this car. Also try to get from the shop any additional warranty work performed.

Check the seat heaters (front and rear).

Make sure the driving lights work. These can get expensive.

Brake jobs can get expensive too. Ask when last replaced. (Rotors or just pads?)

Check that the small button next to the side mirror adjustment controls, when pushed, positions the passenger side mirror toward the rear wheel while backing up.

These are quite solid cars. Don't let this list scare you away. These are just some things that get tossed around this bb from time to time.

If you are buying through a dealer, you can opt for certain computer settings. Search this site for 'tech II' to see some of the options. These mainly are how the car (un)locks, climate controls, and lighting features.
