Hi,

Saab 9-5 again rates as Very Good in reliability in Consumer Reports.
The list of cars listed less relible than Saab 9-5 by CR in current
issue of annual auto issue is long and distinguished. These cars include
the following:

Acura RSX
Audi .. ANY Audi
BMW ... ANY BMW
Infiniti ... ANY Infiniti
Jaguar (Saab used to have reputation similar to that of Jaguar,
Remember? Jaguar's reputation is deserved. Saab's reputation is not.)
Lexus SC430
Mercedes ... ANY Mercedes
Nissan Altima
Nissan Sentra
Subaru Impreza
Toyota Camry (the _gold_ standard of reliability)
Volkswagen ... ANY Volkswagen
Volvo ... ANY Volvo

However, not a lot of us bought our 9-5s primarily because of
reliability. I bought it because of performance, because of handling and
because the price was right! Reliability is just an added bonus.

So, Toyota Camry gets dinged for some nit-picky issues such as
rattling and probably will be less likely to leave driver stranded on
the side of the road than just about any other car on the road today.
But just consider that if you pay more for a 9-5 2.3t than you do for
a top of the line Camry, you probably payed too much and should have
done more homework.

All this means that Saab is going to get some buyers who used to buy
Volvos almost reflexively. Some of those stodgy accountant types will
be tempted to let their hair down for the first time in their entire
living-dead lives when they find that Saabs are fun as well as reliable.

thanks

Jae
