It's getting to be the time for warm weather -- and the return of the groaning from my '02 Aero wagon. Took it in last summer and they couldn't replicate the noise (Murphy's Law), yet I replicated it immediately after stepping off the dealer's lot. Of course. I assume -- yes??? -- that you have to demonstrate the groan before they replace the valve? The dealer had no idea that such a thing existed, but thanks to this board, now I know the cause. Wonder if a past complaint, now documented in the dealer's service records for my car -- along with my documented solution of a bum expansion valve -- will be enough for the dealer to simply replace it? I don't want to get into the drama of taking the car to them again and having nothing happen -- trouble-shooting with a Saab dealership is not fun. I know from experience on a '97SET that came with a turbo on the fritz. Took a year for them to finally determine it after I pleaded with them. I drove a friends '98SET and could tell it was much stronger, but with the same engine. OY!
