Power Seat Question

I bought a used power seat with memory for my '99 9-5 wagon.
Unfortunately, the guy I bought it from managed to bugger up some of the underseat motors when it took it out, so I ended up pulling the modules and wiring harness and installing them on my old (power, non-memory) seat. After putting it all back together, it now moves, but only in one second bursts: move-stop-move-stop, etc. as it inches along.
When I use the memory function, I hear a beep, and all the motions work properly (except recline, but I believe that's a separate issue from one seat having a four-wire connector, and the other a 2-wire connector to the recline motor), so it appears to be hooked up ok, but do I need to have the computer reprogrammed to "see" the "new" seat control module?
Thanks,
Martin
