in a well-written post over there!
Greg, I liked the cleverly written intro, about how M1 0W-40 can't defend itself because it has no fingers with which to type with :-)
Anyhow, there were some initial posts that gave the impression that the regulars there didn't like M1 0W-40, but then someone new wrote about that, and they replied, "Who, us? No we like the stuff!"
Also, a guy from Australia wrote that his Toyota 4x4's engine sounded rattly on 0W-40... later, he qualified that post, and wrote that his truck was been running a thick 20W-50 wt oil for 130,000 miles before he tried the 0W-40... the car likely had increased tolerances and needed the thicker 20W-50...
Another issue that came up is how M1 0W-40 thins out to almost a 30wt oil and then it thickens back up later during extended use; as Greg explained in detail, there's no real reason that this should be considered bad. The 5W-30 weight M1 analyzes almost as thin as a 20 wt when new, straight from the bottle! And still, most would agree that M1 5W-30 protects extremely well...
At least those are my impressions of what I've read there!
Anyhow, I won't argue with SAAB and Porsche--it's approved by them, and they use it as the factory fill! If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me... especially at $4.29 per quart, on sale!
