I seldom turn rotors

I've had a couple of GM trucks since 1997 that go through front pads every 25-30K miles -so I've done a fair number of brake jobs. At first, I used to turn the rotors each time. However, it turned out that the 2WD van were integrated with the hub and an ABS gear that cost around $200 each. I found some good OEMs for $130 each, and thereafter stopped the practice of unnecessarily machining rotors.
The result: Brakes operate as good as ever and rotors last twice as long.
If you're experiencing pulsation then yes, have them turned. Likewise, if you have deep grooves worn in one, have them turned. In a lot of cases, however, your further ahead to just knock the ridge off the perimiter of the braking surfaces, spray with degreaser, and reinstall.
There are lots of parts where an "if it ain't broke-fix it" mentality is well founded. I don't think rotors are among them, though.
