I picked up my new Aero Wagon Friday. What an exhilerating car! Black with tan, 5 speed, BBS, heated seats, Black Pearl grill, StonGard. I can't stop staring at it! I installed my Yakima bars using the DoubleCross towers, and it fits beautifully. With the 38 inch fairing tucked between the rails (flipped so that huge "YAKIMA.com" logo is not visible) it looks sweet...for a roof rack, at least.
My hard to please wife loves it, and the kids rejoice at the extra room (they are used to her A4) and heated seats . I was a little disheartened when a Montessori Mom told me "Is that yours? It's cute!" Not exactly the reaction I was expecting ;( Everyone else just asks me what kind of car it is. I will have to get used to that.
Anyway, I had my first rock strike at 45 miles. A beater van heading the other way flipped a big stone that impacted the windshield right in front of the steering wheel, but down low. My heart just about stopped when I heard the BANG, and when I saw the two little craters I almost cried. But fortunately they are small, and apparently it hasn't cracked the glass. And the rock missed the paint.
Several questions:
Rain sensing wipers: I found an empty relay socket in the front fuse box labled "Rain Sensor". When will this option be available in the USA, and will I be able to retro-fit it to my car? Does it work like the Hella system? I hope so.

Fire extinguisher: I want to mount a standard 10BC bottle somewhere inside the car, using a metal-strap type bracket. The only places I think might work are on top of one of the rear wheel wells, and vertically in front of the right rear taillights. I can't see any easy spot up front. Comments or advice? Quick access is a priority, of course.
Cornering lights: What's the latest news on this? Mine are gone, as has been mentioned before, and if they can be put back without major expense I would be delighted. The socket appears to be there under the fog-light housing, but the hole and wiring are not.
David and Julie: I think I too will use DRAKEN as a personalized plate. (Since we are 3500 miles apart I think it unlikely we will encounter each other!) I saw your photo and think it will look terrific on this car. I like the "First in Flight" logo on your NC plate - very appropriate!
TIA
