Just kidding.
I replaced my serpentine belt and both idler pulleys over the weekend. Since the WIS is somewhat silent about how to deinstall/reinstall the pulley's, I followed your procedure which is at
http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9-5/index.html?bID=47473.
You state that the job should take one to two hours to complete depending on skill level
Hah!
I took me 9 hours! 8 of which were spent trying to get that @!#$% center pully mounted. The break down would be as follows:
-4 hours to accept that what I was trying to do couldn't be done.
-1 hour to obtain a wire mounted magnet followed by something like 2 hours of trying to retrieve the bolt that had fallen inside the tubular frame.
-Another hour letting a mechanic friend of mine try to get the threads started.
-5 minutes to install the bolt once we figured out how to support the it with one hand from the bottom while someone else turned it from above.
Once that pully was on, everything else whas pretty easy. I did find that removing the engine mount itself helped to gain access to the center pulley -but not much.
Your directions said:
9. Replace the 2 pulleys, the second one is a very tight fit, requires some patience
Patience! I hereby nominate that for an understatement of the year award.
Seriously, thanks for posting the procedure.
