At the auto parts store, buy a little device that slips over a blade fuse to tap elecricity from it. Pull off the fuse cover, find one that operates from the ignition so it is not on all the time, then put some electrical tape on the exposed connection after you make it. Find a ground for the negative. Any bolt that goes into a metal part will probably suffice. I also removed the panel below the dash, but that was partly because I was also installing a remote display. The detector cord will push into the slot between the decorative moulding and the rubber moulding along the door, and will push into the headliner from the windshield side. If you want a remote display, I put mine on top of the moulding below the speedometer display, just to the right of the button to reset the odometer. Bonus: this covers up that irritating "cruise control" light. There is actually enough space to push the wire straight down and there is a surprising amount of space below the dash. Let me know if you have any problems. Also, if you do a search, there are other posts on this subject.
