I wrote about this a while ago (you may search for "Mobil 1" on the board). As I mentioned back then, I was not recommended to use the 0w- grade oils by Saab mechanics and dealers in Germany.
They begun using 0w-30 full synthetic oils back in 1990's (maybe 1996 ?). Everybody was so much excited about the low freezing point and they recommended to switch from 5w-40 grade oils to 0w-30 or 0w-40 grade to every Saab owner. Later on, the opinion swayed around and now they do not recommend these oils at all (too "thin", too large a range, and mainly the engines are "too noisy with the thinner oil"). I believe there might be more crucial findings behind this switch back to 5w- oils. For me, the 0w-... oils do not deliver any advantage over 5w-... grade oils.
Just my 2 cents ...
