It seems clear the insurer never takes possession, so it would be kind of impossible to leverage the margin between 21,000 and auction price. Would have to go back to the make me want to buy a new one scenario.

I gotta beleive that the insurer charged a premium of some weight and probably expects to get clobbered...or some one got fired big time. I would suspect that today's used car glut would not be a surprise to the insurer. Heck, the paperholder might have syndicated the entire risk and is just doing the transaction.

So SFSC has an asset, and its insured, so they are understanably being pretty blunt
