Hey Jase,
I don't think GM-LL-A-025 means anything significant.
This oil is weird because I think it attempts too much.
Saab wanted an oil which can be used in both gasoline and diesel
engines. And, they wanted long drain interval. Well, this combination
is tough, but Delvac 1 showed how to accomplish both objectives.
In addition, Saab wanted to meet CAFE standards with the exact same oil.
So, they took an oil with formulation like that of Delvac 1 and made it
thinner.
This last part is what is weird. It's too much to ask of a wimpy 30
weight oil.
I don't think GM-LL-A-025 specification means anything significant for
the car owner.
If I had to choose a 30 weight oil, I would choose Mobil 1 10W-30.
As for Saab 0W-30 being made by Mobil, we only have speculation and
similar looking oil bottles. Also, "Mobil 1" is a brand name that Mobil
reserves for itself. "Mobil 1" refers to something very specific which
includes additive package with Moly. So, Saab 0W-30 is not Mobil 1
because it contains no Moly.
thanks
Jae
