Trailer wiring, SAAB wiring harness

Ok, the link below gives me the information to tie into the SAAB trailer wiring harness. I'm surprised that there is no ground wire.
If I wanted to splice in my own, I can find a possible ground location in the trunk, but I'm wondering how the SAAB trailer harness works? My dealer can get one for $60 or so, but do you still need an adaptor to convert separate turn signals/brake lights to hook up to a standard 4-wire trailer harness? And then do you still need to find a separate ground?
Anyone use the SAAB plug-in harness?
