Yes.

And as the plugs are threaded in the threads in the head move the grease away from the electrode end as well.

When you take a plug out of the head for the first time you can see carbon and other fuel related deposits well up the threads. The theads form a spiral channel and the pressure of combustion forces things up there even though the plug forms a perfect seal at the top end. This migration of material along the threads proceeds at a reduced rate as this void gets fouled up with deposits. I prefer to put my own material in there and to have a boundary lubricant as well.

I have used moly grease on plugs for around 25 years. Aluminum heads can suffer thread damage. And with these long life plugs where someone might not remove the plugs for a few years, I really do worry about damage. Things in the factory are installed bone dry and thats really the way that it felt when removing the plugs.
