Just got a letter today from On Star telling me they cancelled my service, which officially expired in November 02... They had phoned before to inquire about our satisfaction and the wife told them I was not impressed by the system (she was being polite). Latter, they send me a subscription form, which I promptly tossed in our recycling bin.
I had never given them my credit card number and I am glad they did not even try to bill be for a service I never asked for.
I never checked the fine print but I am sure they have to warn you that you actually have to cancel it. Phone companies use similar tactics whereby they install free services on your phone on a trial bases and then bill you if you don't cancel them. I warned them not to ever do this again as it would mean my instant switch to another company. So far it has worked.
