The Saturn L-wagons are pleasant... I had an opportunity to go on a weekend trip (from Ann Arbor to Chicago) in an LW200 about two years ago. The four-cylinder engine with the automatic was surprisgly pleasant to drive and I think the handling is a lot better than with the heavier V6.
I find the styling of the L-series sedans horribly boring, but think their wagons might just be the best-kept secret of GM's domestic line-up... except the new front-end treatment is just ugly.
I used to own a Saturn SL2 and didn't have a single problem with the car in three years. I also really like their polymer body panels... the car looked new after two Michigan winters and numerous minor parking lot incidents that would have left a metal-bodied car pockmarked.
L-series sales are also in the toilet these days, so I'm sure the incentives are good (though their dealers don't "deal").
In terms of interior space, I think the cargo room is substantial. The car is narrower and smaller overall than the 9-5, though, if that's a concern.
