I went with a friend to a auction in mass and was amazed at the discounts that can be saved at these dealer auctions. for what its worth i was able to win a auction for a 99sev6 68k miles, vented seats for 11,400 back in jan03. The auctions have a system in which a car that goes on auction receives a green, yellow, red or white light referering to the condition of the vehicle.(green:good to go, yellow:minor problem, red:major problem, but disclosed at auction, white:over100k/mi) I had about 45secs to decide if that was the car i wanted because the cars get auctioned of at a fast clip. You can pre-inspect the vehicles usually the day before. Most cars that were at the auctions were cars from finance companies that owned the leases that were dumping them if the dealer did'nt want first. I went looking for a A4 but came back with i think the better deal since the 99A4's were leaving the lot at about 13,500 and up. the saabs don't garner any interest at the auctions. the dealers don't seem too intrested in them and they anyone with a connection can get a great deal if you have the cash upfront. the 9-3 convertables are the only saabs that draw some dealers attention. since the purchase i've replaced the serpintine belt and the altenator. No problem other than that just wish i had picked up an aero 5sp instead. I hope this helps if anybody may have a connection to a dealer licence. The risk I beleive is minimal because of the savings from dealer markup. Get a lemon just trade in to dealer they'll pretty much give you what you paid. Well that was my two cents.
