Engine failure has been a recurring problem with my 2000 9-5 Wagon. I love the car except for this nasty habit. The good thing is that it always restarted. The problem, however, is that Saab service could never duplicate the problem on their own. First try was the DI (?) cassette - no luck. Second try was the ECU Upgrade - no luck. Third try was the ignition switch - no luck. Fourth try was the throttle body - again no luck. With some help from the folks on Saabnet, I was able to prod Saab into checking the crank case sensor. They replaced it after seeing some corrosion, whatever that means, but it seems to have done the trick. I would recommend any and all of the above, but am curious what people know about the crank case sensor. Does this sound like the right fix? Sounds like a frequent problem for Saabers - that many live with because they can simply restart the car and move on.
