hi all,
after enjoying this board for the past month, we just picked up a beautiful black wagon for my wife. the car is about a 9 out of 10 and we got a very good price considering the $39k MSRP and the add'l $2k for the BBS aftermarket wheels. i even got to speak w/ the previous owner(lease return) and she assured me that she LOVED the car for the 3 yrs she had the lease. here's the pix: http://www.gkautos.com/0095fisher.htm
btw, this is the 3rd car i've bot from them. greg was formerly a BMW mechanic and he and his son chris pick out the BEST cars from lease returns - i trust them immensely, both judgment as well as business/customer service on anything we need.
so far, the only thing i've noticed is that the steering has some vibration ABOVE 70 mph. in the past i know that 50 to 60 mph can be related to front wheel balancing, but usually is disappears above 70. in this case, it's the opposite. any thoughts?
here are my favorites so far on the car. very smooth ride, the car smells new, and the interior is showroom condition. the SID and DI have both been replaced w/in the past 20k miles. the stereo sound is very good, the size of the car is perfect, there's the sliding floor in the wagon, and it looks great - especially b/c the gary fisher model(only 650 made in year 2000) has the AERO looks and the refrigerated glove compartment.
a few things i'm not crazy about: turn signal noise...it's so LOUD - almost annoying - makes me not want to avoid using it. also, there is a slight buzz when i'm on idle as the car is at red light and my foot's on the brake but i hear that's pretty normal. the key fob - too big...newer models have it integrated into key like mercedes - much better.
the only other observations are that the car leans quite a bit for sharper turns and the brake's "feel" is a bit mushy(even w/ new front brakes)- not as solid feeling as mercedes or bmw. lastly, it's a black car. the last two times we had black, i've always found it very difficult to keep clean. it looks great when it's clean, but it's though to keep it that way continuously.
