After my wife and I bought a nice '99 9-5 SW in March, I was so impressed with the car I decided to look for a used 9-5 as my daily driver. One of the cars I've come across is a very clean, off-lease '99 9-5 base sedan with 51,000 miles offered by a well-respected Buick dealership with a good import lot. Problem: so far the dealer has not been able to produce service records. And the service booklet in the car was never used. The car drives smoothly, has a good set of Gislaved tires on it. I would take it to a good Saab indie mechanic for a thorough buyer's inspection if I got serious about the car. But without the records, is it worth the chance? I know there are some on this BB who would say "just walk away," and others wouldn't even consider a non-certified vehicle. Still, it's a nice car, and I think I am correct in assuming that on balance leased cars will have a good service history.
Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.
