Scott, a turbo is a forced air induction system that enables an engine to realize more horsepower. For example , if the current 9-5 with it's 2.3 liter 4 cyl. engine did not have a turbo it would probably only make 140 to 150hp. With a low pressure turbo it makes 185hp and with a high pressure turbo it makes 250hp. Saab has the reputation of being a leader in turbo technology, making small fuel efficient cars go fast when you desire to go fast. You might want to check out the link that explains turbo technology.
I'm not sure what model Saab you have but check the owners manual for the recommended fuel and don't go below it. Mine says premium and that's what I use.
