I was in an accident on Friday night on my way home from work (0.5 miles away from work!). Another 9-5 hit me - in the front passenger tire. I'm waiting for the ins guy to come out hopefully tomorrow, but likely not until Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm not mechanically inclined, but I do know that my car goes nowhere now unless on a tow truck.
Since her bumper impacted directly on my front tire (and then surrounding area), my tire is pushed in at the top and lodged under/against the strut (spring looking thing?). Damage to her car... probably just sand and repaint her front bumper, not even a dent!

I'm calling my mechanic first thing tomorrow to see if he will stop by my house and check it out and give me an estimate and schedule me for some time so as soon as the ins guy gets here, I can get my car fixed. I will shop around for somebody to do the body damage repairs after I can drive it again. The body really isn't that bad, just crumpled behind the tire, slight popping out at the front edge of the door and a scrape on the front corner of the bumper.
Since it usually takes a week or longer to get into my mechanic, if it is indeed a broken strut, is this something that NTB or similar can fix?
While I can live without my car this week (I'm on vacation from work and doing a week long graduate course - 3 miles away), I'd like to have it back by the weekend.

What will typically be broken when another car hits you at the top of the tire?
I'd like to call around and get some estimates while waiting for the ins guy... based on what it would likely be - when the ins guy tells me what it is, then I can call back if it is different.
