Hi,
I believe that there are only a handful of oils which meet
MB 229.5 specification.
Even Jason will admit that in a pinch Mobil 1 15W-50, Castrol Red Label
Made In Germany Syntec 0W-30 and Delvac 1 5W-40 are worthy substitutes
for Mobil 1 0W-40
Of all these oils, Mobil 1 15W-50 is most readily available followed
by Mobil 0W-40.
Delvac 1 5W-40 was not submitted for ACEA A tests, but given all of its
other specs, ACEA A3/B3 would be a low hurdle for Delvac 1. I've had
a lot of trouble finding Delvac 1 in my area. I even had an unfortunate
visit to a Vee Dubyuh dealermersheep.
thanks
Jae
