Hello to all you fellow 9-5 owners in this BB community. I am pleased to become active here again. I enjoyed the forums when I owned a 1995 900s a few years back. From what I can tell, there are still many good folks participating.
I've posted a few questions recently as I've investigated a couple used 1999 9-5 SE 3.0 V6 models. Thanks for your replies! Well, tonight I purchased a beautiful silver w/charcoal leather 9-5 with 62,500 km (39,000 mi) on the odo. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba in the middle of Canada. These are VERY rare autos here and sold new by only one particular Saturn Saab Izusu dealer in the province. At any given time, there may only be 5 Saabs in total for sale from all sources. When I checked on-line, the Ontario Trader.com listings, I found 87 9-5s alone for sale!
I declined on a black/tan unit that had more miles, no records, and no warranty that was about 15% less money. It was bought at a Montreal auction by an RV dealer here (also missing remotes, manual, broken dash cupholder, one front fender repainted).
The one I bought is all original & local... fully maintained by the dealer AND has 2 years, up to 18,000 km, full factory warranty left. It was a demo unit when the first owner bought it with 8000 km in July/01, the official in-service date. I will be considering additional warranty to take it out to 5 yr / 100,000 km which would give me 3 full years of coverage at my rate of driving. I'll report back once the costs are final.
I will be buying new Bridgestone Turanza LS-H rubber all round as 2 of the original Michelins barely passed safety. Good deal from Costco on these.
The car is in fabulous shape and I think it drives like a dream. Took a few of my favorite CDs along for the test and was impressed with the 9 speaker stereo.
I pick it up in a couple days after final detailing and prep along with a fresh set of front rotors which was the only safety item flagged during inspection. Mother's Carnuba awaits!!
