Seek function in radio broken--common problem??

I have an '00 Aero with the premium stereo or whatever and I'll be on my 3rd deck after having to already replace my head unit once because of a broken "seek" feature. I posted this once before and no one else I ran across seemed to have a deck replaced for this reason.

Basically the seek function (where you hold down the arrows and it fast-forwards through tracks on a CD) isn't working. I can go from track to track, but I can no longer fast forward to a particular part in a song by holding down this button. It's not operator error, the dealer has verified the problem now for the 2nd time. It's actually broken.

But I'm wondering if this isn't happening to anyone else if I'm doing something wrong that's breaking the deck. It says in the manual you can't use "burned" CDs--could this have anything to do with this? I make CD compilations for the car or whatever all the time but have never heard of a properly burned CD-R media breaking a stereo. I figured that was in there because record companies or whatever might have a piece of Saab and vice versa and might want to throw that in to get you to buy more CDs. I don't know. I'm reaching--but it's strange I'm the only one having the problem.

Anyone else out there have this going on?
