Hello all!
I am a newbie here, just got my new-to-me '00 9-5 SE wagon (50K miles, Saab-certifiied) a couple of weeks ago. I moved up from a VW Jetta wagon (TDI -- we still have a Beetle TDI, too) and I have a few questions, having been a VW gal for a while.
1. Do Saabs use their own special coolant like the VWs?
2. I read a lot about synthetic oil here (also like our VWs). However, with the TDI, the oil change schedule is 10K. Is it 5K with the Saab?
3. I think I have a suspension or tire issue, or it could just be the way the car drives compared to the VW (which had a rather stiff ride). Car is a bit floaty in the back end over bumps and such. At 50K, it seems like maybe the shocks and springs should be replaced anyhow. I don't want to lower the car, but I would like a sportier ride. Suggestions?
Anyhow, I really like the car, and am looking forward to many miles with it. The main reason I bought it is that we have two rescued racing greyhounds, and they just barely fit in the Jetta. My brother is on his second 9-5 wagon, so I thought I would check them out. A friend in college had a 900 that I loved driving, so the Saab seemed like a nice choice!
Here's a picture of my wagon (that's my girl grey Trudy, too)!
Thanks!
