Injured Saab -- what am I looking at?

We have a 2000 9-5 SE wagon. My husband hit a hubcap Thursday night on the freeway. At first he didn't mention it because it didn't seem like it did much damage. But then we noticed that the foglights didn't seem too secure in their housing. After closer inspection, it seems that something very bad happened. The A/C no longer works, the black plastic grille in the middle is gone, and as you can see from the picture, there's some damage behind where the grille used to be.
I don't know what's what here (I'm guessing something here has to do with the A/C), so someone please tell me what I'm looking at. I'm taking the car in tomorrow morning. I suspect this will cost an arm, a leg, and maybe a couple of fingers, too. Sigh. We've had the car less than a month. :-(
This first picture is a close-up of the middle lower grille opening (missing) on the driver's side. Next picture is of the foglights (which is looks worse now that I've been poking at it).
