Though I was interested in an Arc wagon when shopping the breed, the only test vehicle was a Linear. After two days of testing Volvos, I immediately got this s**t eating grin on my face when I pulled out of the JMK lot on busy Rt 22 in NJ. I couldn't stop laughing. It was really FUN after the other cars, and actually a little more agile than the heavier Arc.
You are definitely bucking a trend I've noticed. Around here, Hubby drives the Beemer/Porsche/MB. He buys the "Little Woman" a nice *safe* Volvo V70 or honking SUV instead of something that can get out it's own way. Certainly nothing with any sex appeal. That aspect is of course, reserved for him. So, good for you!
Last thing I'd ever buy a car for is the sound system. Cars are horrible environments for accurate reproduction. But the Harmon Kardon is really nice, as Bart said (Home system: ProAc, Cary, Rogue Audio, Audio Quest wire). Very well tuned for the car. The larger interior of the wagon lets the subs stretch their legs. And that center channel... If you price aftermarket rigs of that quality and add installation, you'll find the HK-Saab system a *steal*. Just learn how to turn off the loudness contour.
Don't short sell the Sentronic. I didn't use it for weeks until spent a weekend in central PA. It'll save your brakes and your sanity when you're following a truck down a couple miles of 8% grade. Makes uphills a blast, too. It's all good: M, W, S, whatever...
Just my $0.02
