If it was the 3 liter Jaguar, I might tell you to look a bit more carefully at it. The 2.5 liter will probably be a lot less exciting, performance wise. If space is important, get the 9-5, if sportiness, then get the 9-3.

I had a 3 liter X-type as a rental car in Los Angeles 6 months ago, and was very impressed with the car. Good build quality, excellent torque characteristics, nice ride but excellent handling, and the Connolly leather is always nice. The back seat is TINY though, so it's not that great for passengers. Gas mileage wasn't that great either. I wanted to LOVE it, but I found it a bit too small inside for my tastes.

Jag reliability is much better than before...just look at JD Powers studies..I think there is still a lot of earlier cars with bugs in them out there. Every car has had its issues...Saab 9-3s that simply die on the road (it happened to my dad in a loaner car on a major interstate as HIS car was in with a dead fuel pump...he was less than thrilled), and then restart 5 minutes later, Audi 1.8T engines that need new coils, BMW 7 Series iDrive components going nuts, Volvo A/C needing rebuilding, Mercedes door handles falling off, etc.

Take reliability with a grain of salt. You will always see negative messages posted on bulletin boards...you will see many fewer "positive" messages. It's just the nature of bulletin boards. Bad news travels a heck of a lot faster than positive news.

As a 9-5 Aero wagon owner, it's the perfect car for my needs....

Pick the car that best fits your needs, and what you like the most...

Good luck!
