I bought my Aero from a dealer just before Christmas. It had just shy of 50k miles on it at the time. They were asking $19k or so.

I paid for, and have use many times, the Saab Certified warranty extension. You may not have that option at 60k, but you may want to consider something, as I had three pages of stuff addressed the first week (mostly stupid stuff the PO didn't want/care to fix).

First off, I asked for a warranty service history. Look for a DI Cassette (should have had one replaced by now) and battery. Also there was a recall for ECU to fix an emmisions problem. Otherwise, youll probably see misc. stuff like AC fan and parts & pieces.

It was clear that the PO dumped the car days before the factory warranty ran out, and had skipped on some routine maintenance in doing so. Bing a DIY type, I knew that the rough idle and hard shifting of the car at demo (how can they put these things out for sale?) could be addressed in time with the warranty to fall back on.

A full fluid replacement regimine and a mostly DIY tune-up later, the car is in excellent trim and pulling hard like an Aero should. I can't say enough how much difference the CORRECT synthetic oil (5w-30 Mobil 1 in my case) makes on these cars. It went from slug boosting only into 1/2 yellow to sweet boosting right up to red after new fluids.

Anyway, let your hands and butt be the guide. Does the car stutter at launch? Might be gunky injectors or throttle body, both easily fixed. Does it leak fluids? Check the usual places, while on the dealer's rack, if possible. You'll see the wet spots. Does it idle hard or rattle? Have them adjust the timing chain- no big deal. Blue smoke from the tail pipe? Blown turbo- walk away.

There are lots of Aeros out there at +100k miles. Yours could be next. Good luck!
