I was exactly at the same decision point 2 months ago. I decided to get a low-miles 2000 9-5 LPT with the CPO warranty to ensure peace of mind. The car I found has another 11 months on the original factory bumper-to-bumper warranty (plus only 24k miles on the clock) and an additional 2 years of CPO warranty beyond that. Saab has the strongest CPO warranty of anyone... they extend the original factory warranty with the only exclusions being normal maintenance stuff (tires, brakes) and the radio.
So I got a 3 year old car with 3 years and 75k miles of warranty coverage remaining for 58% of the original MSRP.
Now if I could just get it back from my wife... she likes the Saab better than her 2001 V70 T5!
