As to rustproofing don't think it is worth money. My '91 9000 CD has sat out for the last six years in Minnesota. The only rust is behind the rear wheels where the paint was damaged from rocks etc. There is also a little on the trunk lid where the paint was chipped and I diddn't get it touched up. I recall rustproofing a '78 Volvo. When I saw it years later after I sold it it was completely rusted. I think that they simply spray gunk in the car and plug up the normal ways for moisture to escape. My other newer saabs both have great paint jobs and I don't think that rust will be a problem at all.
As to extended warranty I noticed that there are problems recently with some companies. Get one from a saab dealer. I had a good experience years ago with a warranty that I got from the dealer. Even though the original company went under someone made sure that the charges were covered.
While I think that the paint is great and they are unlikely to rust it seems likely that there will be some big repairs well down the road when some of the electronic stuff starts to fail. It is all expensive. You could put the money in the bank and hope you got are lucky.
