My '99 9-5 SW has had the wind deflector arms on the sunroof replaced at 15K and at 48K, both under warranty with a previous owner. Now, at 54K, the driver's side arm has failed again, this time out of warranty. The clip pops out and prevents closing. Dealer service rep. didn't say whether this was common or not, but the tech told me he'd done a few of these before. Dealer didn't have part in stock, so I'm waiting for new arm. It seems absurd to have one of the arms fail again after only 6K. I'll have new arm installed, and hope this one lasts a while. BTW, anyone have any idea if this is an easy DIY job? I'm tempted to remove the deflector altogether if the arm fails again and see how it sounds/feels that way. It will probably drive us crazy on the Interstate.
