Everyoen, I need some help on a service that I just had done on my 2000
9-5 SE. I am in Iraq right now and had the fiance take the car into services the shop for routine services. I can back with a 1300 dollar bill. Maechanic said that the big cost was for the replacement of the cam shaft timeing belt. I called him on my satalite phone and grilled him becuase that is nuts. He said that the Saab's have a systemic problem withe the timing belt and that it was precautionary but necessary. While he was in there he also replaced some bearings and other pieces. I just find this ludicrice. I can;t really do much but talk to him face to face when I redeploy, but has anyone heard about this before? I trust the mech and have never had trouble with him before. What is this legit???? Thanks for your help!!
