What is the official party line for LPT turbo cool down

I have heard that it is a Good Idea to let the turbo cool down upon arrival, for 2-3 minutes, if the car has been 'driven hard', if it's a Monday, or other such urban legends... So far with only 500 miles on the odometer, I wonder if it is a good idea to do it in this day and age. I mean, if I drove 30 miles with the engine barely @ 2000 rpm, and a couple of minutes even under that to get to my house, why bother?
Or not?
Could someone cast some light onto turbo cooldown?
Thanks!
Spiros
