Excluding Oil changes/wiperblades/Here's what I've done on mine since 85K:
date mileage work performed
07.21.03 110,413 Front & Rear Brakes and rotors, REMUSexhaust, aero suspension, 90K service w/cabin filter, etc, MT0063 synth trans fluid.
Hopefully it never goes to the shop ever again ;-)
12.04.02 97402 Spark Plugs, Idler Pulley, Serpentine Belt
10.14.02 95474 Battery
05.25.02 87734 Headlight L
04.24.02 86127 Headlight R
I'm not near the exact figures for dollars, so here's the rough rundown:
Headlights we all know about; and are MUCH cheaper at the local pepboys or equivalent. My DRL's are disconnected.
Battery was in the $60-70 range
That Saab still has the Idler Pulley issue after all these years is unforgiveable in my opinion; it meant a breakdown, and ~ $600 bill IIRC, although that included an oil change and new spark plugs. Short belt option became more common right after I did the replacement, which would have saved some money.
Brakes: First brake job on the car at 110K. Front pads and rotors were pretty close to shot, but still had pad left. Rear brakes pads were only about 40% worn, and rotors weren't too bad, so I could have saved myself about $200 in parts and the PIA parking brake design of the early 9-5's if I hadn't listened to the stealer... uh dealer who told me unecessarily that they were due, too. Approx $380 in parts for all pads and rotors front and rear.
Exhaust: Went with REMUS in case I ever feel like doing an ecu upgrade. Muffler had been replaced once under warranty by prior owner, and would have been due again if the shop had not let it slide at inspection time. (the REMUS isn't much louder than the one I took off) $450
Suspension: The rear shocks barely damping; especially if I had passengers or any kind of load in the trunk, and would have been done earlier if I wasn't waiting for the other suspension parts. I felt the original rear springs were borderline at best given the sagging in the rear-especially common in the early 9-5's. I wanted to upgrade to the aero, so went the whole shocks, struts, springs, sway bar route. Parts were just over $800, although I might have been able to get away with just doing the rear shocks for $156/pair if I was trying to just maintain. The OEM rear shocks are a pretty common issue with these.
90K service - what do you do, it was time!
MTF0063 Synthetic Fluid (5spd) - I'm hoping this fluid will be the fountain of youth for my transmission. The shifting is much better now, but we'll have to see if that lasts. 5qts were about $60
