Broken Fog Light Fix

This is what I did when a fog light lens got smashed:
1. Remove unit (there are many posts on how to do that and it's very easy).
2. Using screwdriver and/or pliers, remove broken glass (do outside or use newspaper-there will be small glass splinters aroung when done- and use gloves).
3. Using screwdriver, remove the old adhesive from the slot around the edge where the glass was.
4. Take the unit to a local plastics dealer and have him cut a piece of Lexan plastic the right size to fit over the light (mine charged me $37 for this service).
5. Place your new plastic lens over the light and you will notice several high spots that keep the plastic from fitting against the slot. Grind these down until the plastic fits well.
6. Fill the slot with adhesive (I used GE Silicon II) until it is just a little higher that the slot.
7. Place the lens on it and press down (I had to use a couple of C clamps to hold it in place).
8. Reinstall the light and you're all set!

It doesn't quite look like the original but it sure beats buying a new one.
