Hey Gang
Erin and I just got back from Rhinebeck, NY where they have an awesome collection of vintage (pre-1930) planes, an air museum and put on a wonderful airshow (Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome (http://www.oldrhinebeck.org). Each weekend is a different additional theme - this weekend was British sports cars (45+ ecclectic brits - Morgans, Triumphs, MG's, Lotus Europas and Esprits, Jensens and Healeys - including a rare 100M LeMans upon which I burned a role of film). We also went to a motorcycle restorer nearby that specializes in Bultacos (the marque I raced in the '70's). It's all in upstate NY - the roads were fantastic for fast sweeping travel.
We put 650 miles on the new Aero Wagon - what a joy (messing with the autosport tranny is instructive - Sport mode is the way to go and I am learning where the throttle points are to nudge the next gear up or down. The steering wheel paddles are a nice addition in hilly terrain as you can seemlessly induce engine brake (to avoid wheel dusting - I placed my order for EBC greens!) Erin loves the car as well and is quite willing to part with the SUV. She is a saint to tolerate these shananigans - although we stopped at a wonderful architectual ephemera store that had awesome stone remnants for our gardens. It was a "look-only" weekend - as I promised not to buy a vintage motorcycle and she promised no antiques...
Cheers
eric
