Hi,
I just bought this model, can't tell you what it's really like after 2 days but I can tell you what I was paying attention to and made sure the dealer knew about.
(Disclaimer: My personal checklist)
- Always buy from an official SAAB Dealer. They will see you as a repeat visitor and will do everything to make sure you buy your next car (an Aero) from them.
- Test drive the car for a day or a week and get a guarantee from them that they'll fix up any problems immediately after this period.
- Read this bulletin board, and you will know that there are known problems. Then go to the BMW, Volvo, Volswagen boards and read them. You will see that EVERY car has known issues. If you are posting in this board then you probably have your heart set on a SAAB for its image and the problems mentioned on this board will make sure you are prepared for them, but at this stage will probably pose no deterrent from buying into the brand.... again!
- Generally problems identified here are related to electronics (SID, lights, alarms) where preventative measures won't help, i.e. take it as and if it comes, and then there are the mechanical problems where people recommend regular scheduled maintenance schedule and grease monkey basic knowledge about your car. Kinda common sense but worth repeating.
Anyway, you're a SAAB aficionado so I'm sure you knew this.
Good luck.
Enda
