You are correct that the odometer is driven by some sensor that counts revolutions, not sppe. However speed is probably derived from the same sensor (revolutions/time). My point was that the car does appear to be able to accurately measure distance and speed, since the values shown on the SID appear to be accurate. I am therefore assuming that the odometer is also accurate. The speed shown on the speedometer is NOT accurate, it reads faster than actual, but that doesn't mean that the odometer contains the same error.
