wrestling with the same extended warranty issues on my 2001 9-5 wagon...have been "introduced" to the GM "Major Guard" plan by the local dealership...of course they say it has no comparison...but what else would you expect them to say...here I think an additional 3 year run or mileage equivalent hovers around $2500 (US)...
let me know what you find and and decide...
just as an aside, I have about 32K on the car...problem list to the current time has included: losing a headlight, a tail-light (both burned out), coolant leak around the oil cooler on the top of the engine, catalytic converter replaced, and at least 6 rounds of the "check engine light" going off...some apparently erroneously...all the above covered under warranty...the GM extended warranty would not have covered the cata;ytic converter if it had occurred after the termination of the warranty.
one interesting thing about the GM plan explained to me here in Texas is that it needs to be obtained before the care is 3 years out from "in service date" or prior to 36,000 miles (whichever occurs first).
again, let me know what you decide...thanks
