I drove an '02 Impreza RS for more than two years. I purchased it new in 3/01. Fun to drive, very responsive, and great in snow, as you'd expect from AWD. Nice exhaust note, too. No maintenance costs other than the routine service visits. A real champ from the standpoint of reliability. But the interior lacked good sound dampening (too much road noise), and the seats were never really comfortable for a 6-footer. I sold it and bought a CPO '00 9-3S. The Saab has a much better combination of performance, safety, practicality, and luxury w/ leather seats, sunroof, etc. It's also a much more distinctive car than the Subaru, which was finally kind of boring. My family car is a 9-5 S/W. I'm glad to be back in double Saabs. If I went to Japanese again, I'd look at Infiniti and Lexus, perhaps. The Impreza is actually rather pricey for what you get. And is the cargo capacity of the TS really all that great?
