'99 9-5 2.3LPT, 5 speed manual trans - 87K miles
Leaving my house to go to work this morning, I started the car, put it in reverse, and then let out the clutch as usual. The car jumped and bucked and barely moved. Like something is catching in the transmission but not really engaging. I pushed in the clutch a few more times, and the car shifted into first and I started off apprehensively.
Then, sitting in traffic as usual this morning, transmission in neutral, I hear a crunch, then the car jolted forward a little bit, and the engine stalled out. I tried to shift out of neutral into first, but the gear shifter was stuck in neutral. It would not shift into any other gear.
I waited about 10 minutes, thinking "clutch?", "tranny?", "time for a new car?", then started up the engine and the clutch worked fine. Drove all the way to work (3 miles) uneventfully. What could this be?
