Taht the alarm makes when you lock or inlock the vehicle? That is what I would interpret as a "chirp". If so, the unit is adjustable between loud, soft, and off,and can be individually programmed for the doors, and the trunk. If what you meant by "alarm chirp" was the actually alarm sound when the system is violated,I do not know the answer to that, but would suspect that it is either on or off,off being for those who just do not want an alarm at all.A low level, or soft alarm sound would not seem to make too much sense to me.
Again, the lock/unlock sounds are definitely fully programmable,regardless of the year. If your dealer is telling you otherwise, tell him to get the SAab field engineer in to do your car for you while embarrasing his techs. That should be all they need to hear to motivate them to do this the right way.
