250 km per day!!! That's a whole lot of exposure to ice and snow!

Nokians are my top choice, and for heavy winter conditions I'd use either Hakka 2 or Hakka Q, depending on the amount of ice. But if you're doing that much mileage, you are spending more time on the expressways no doubt, and the WR would be more appropriate for that kind of duty. The "Q" sticks to ice better than un-studded "2"s. Do hunt around for a Nokian dealer - I've attached a link to a list of dealers in Ontario. http://www.nokiantire.com also has links to the other provinces.

If you can't find a Nokain dealer convenient to you, then...

The Arctic Alpin, with its continuous ribs, is known to do poorly in heavy slush, but very well on ice and snow. The Pilot Alpin has a block tread, so slush can be expelled more easily.

Avoid the Dunlop "M-sport" winter tire line. I checked a 9-5 for a subscriber which had them, and they howled and boomed beyond belief. Those tires, judging from that one experience, are incompatible with Saab's chassis.

Goodyear makes a couple of winter tires - the "Q" rated is similar to the Bridgestone Bizzak in that it has a soft outer layer of tread rubber covering a harder under layer. It will provide *great* ice traction when new which will degenerate once the tire is about half worn. With the number of miles you drive, I wouldn't think you'd want it. The "GW2/3" line seems more like what you want - and they are H speed rated.

Gislaved is now promoting a "Nordfrost III" -

Good luck.
