Tom: Both the 205/55/16 and the 215/50/16 will fit and both will work on your Aero. I have the Gislaved 205/55 package on my 2002 Aero, and they do not rub.Absolutely no problem on that issue. The possible difference between the sizes is that in theory, the narrower 205 will get you through tougher conditions than the 215. That is the main reason for not just going with a 225/45/17 like your stock summer tire size. A wider snow tire has more chance of floating on top of loose snow than does a narrower tire. The other side of the coin is that the 215 will perform and ride and handle better on non snow conditions than will the 205.One question you can ask yourself is how many times during the winter in your region do you get snowfalls, and how quickly do they clear the roads? Personally,I feel that the main reason to switch tothe snows in the first place is to assure myself that in snow,I have the best chance to get through. The Gislaved 205 package has been terrific for me, and I had this on my first 9-5 for four winters, and always got through, even when all those so called SUV's( Stupid Useless Vehicles)were off the side of the road in single car accidents. I believe that the main reason that Saab offered the 215 size is for the V-6 ARC, which had more weight onthe front end, and needed a higher load rating than the 205's had. Saab suggested the 205 size for the Linear and the Aero, while sugggesting the 215 for the Arc only.Hope this info is of use to you.
