i am also a new 9-5 se owner [well, new to me at least as it is a '99] and just drove the car home to ny from richmond, va. reset the sid before i left and got 32.7 mpg on a sid average speed of 74mph. to get that average speed, i stayed w/ i-95 traffic at about 80mph. far better than the 900se turbo that i just sold, which on a recent trip from ny to killington, vt for mtn biking got a sid indicated 24.5 mpg at about the same average speed [that did include the drag of two bikes on the roof]...i think that your mileage is on the low side if you reset the sid before you left.
