It's easy to either use or ignore OnStar. Because the buttons are obscured by the steering wheel, it's easy to ignore it. Out of sight is out of mind.
However, I have, twice in 35 years, locked myself out of my car. For the cost of a couple of tankfuls of gas, I think it's cheap insurance. Just have to *remember* that I can call OnStar if needed.
Also, I bought the wagon for road trips. Serious tires/rims. Stone guards on hood and wheel wells. This car is no boulevardier. Ever been out of cell range? US$40 buys 100 minutes of talk time, good for a year. Kinda cool.
On balance, OnStar is like many other things in the Saab (night panel, venti-seats, parking assist) that once in a while, cause you to utter an audible "Thank you!" to the folks who put them there.
